Yikes, it’s August already – that means that JavaOne is now ‘next month’….that seems way too soon! 🙂

• Gerrit Grunwald has released a new version of his Medusa gauge library, as well as another of his Friday Fun Components (yet another gauge!)
• I did a guest post over at the Java Source blog about Java clients at JavaOne.
• Adam Carroll has posted about user interface testing with TestFX. A highly recommended read.
• Andreas Billmann has released SmartCSV.fx 0.4. The app is looking very nice and polished!
• Edvin Syse and Thomas Nield have been working on videos / code samples of TornadoFX / RxKotlinFX functionality. Firstly, Edvin has a short teaser video on TornadoFX. Secondly, Thomas has a short video as well as sample code showing integration of TornadoFX with RxKotlinFX.

• Thomas Nield has written about CompositeObservables, a feature in RxJavaFX.
• Edvin Syse has posted a screencast on TornadoFX SwitchView/ViewModel/Validation.
• Speaking of Edvin, he has also released TornadoFX 1.5.2.
• Thomas Künneth has posted about an upcoming workshop he is working on for Java on mobile devices.

A heap of releases this week, and a few good articles too. It’s now only two months until JavaOne, so I hope everyone is starting to think about their presentations, projects, and social activities. I can’t wait to get over to San Francisco again and see you all – it is always one of the highlights of the year for me, and I hope for you all as well!

• Speaking of JavaOne, for those of you attending JavaOne this year, I am doing my seventh annual Java Desktop lunch during the week. If you are interested in attending, please register your interest here, and I’ll be in touch in the coming weeks with more details.
• Jeff Martin has written about converting JavaFX applications to JavaScript to run in the browser.
• Gerrit Grunwald has released a new release of his Medusa gauge library.
• Jens Deters has released FontAwesomeFX 8.12.
• Rob Terpilowski has announced that GMapsFX 2.0.7 has been released. The main feature in this version is to allow the use of custom marker/pin images, rather than relying on the default Google images.
• Carl Walker has posted about creating custom flat windows in JavaFX. This is a three-part series, all of which are available online now.
• Dirk Lemmermann has two posts this week. Firstly, he has an interview with the developers of the JavaFX-based SkedPal application. Secondly, he has announced the release of FlexGanttFX 1.6.
• Adam Carroll has announced the release of VocabHunter v1.0.16. VocabHunter is a system to help learners of foreign languages.

• Gerrit Grunwald has been mentioned a number of times this week. Firstly, he was interviewed about his experiences and thoughts on JavaFX. Secondly, he published another of his Friday Fun Components, this time a simple ‘ChargeControl‘. Finally, he is presenting a ‘custom controls’ talk to the Silicon Valley JavaFX Users Group on July 20. As usual this will be live-streamed, so you can attend from anywhere in the world.
• Almas Baimagambetov let me know he has released an update to his FXGL project. FXGL is a JavaFX 8 Game Library written in Java and Kotlin.
• Edvin Syse has posted updated documentation for the view model in TornadoFX. TornadoFX is a lightweight JavaFX Framework for Kotlin.

• I got around to releasing Scenic View 8.7.0 and ControlsFX 8.40.11. I didn’t quite get around to announcing these releases though – so: mystery release! 🙂 Enjoy!
• Gerrit Grunwald has another of his Friday fun components – this time one of the old style rotary phones.
• Thomas Nield has released RxJavaFX 0.1.0. RxJavaFX is a collection of RxJava bindings for JavaFX.
• Kamil Baczkowicz has released mqtt-spy 0.5.2.
• Carl Walker has written a tutorial on writing a JavaFX application in Kotlin using TornadoFX.
